Salesforce Delivery Strategies

VRP Consulting Blog SeriesVRP Consulting

A strategic framework for matching delivery models to organizational context, enabling teams to scale Salesforce initiatives without sacrificing quality or creating unnecessary friction.

Summary

This piece kicked off a VRP Consulting series on Salesforce delivery strategies. It frames “delivery strategy” as the deliberate choice of how value is delivered, then outlines core models organizations can mix and match as they scale:

  • Outsourcing / Staff Augmentation
  • Managed Services
  • Health Checks
  • QuickStarts
  • Discovery & Design
  • Agile Sprint Teams
  • Scoped Project Delivery
  • Product Development Outsourcing

The thrust: match the strategy to the context so teams reduce friction, focus on outcomes, and scale delivery without sacrificing quality.

Main Takeaways

  1. Strategy fit matters: The same team can underperform with the wrong model and excel with the right one.
  2. Shared language reduces drag: Naming the strategy aligns stakeholders on expectations, roles, and governance.
  3. Scale ≠ chaos: Clear engagement models (e.g., AST vs. SPD) let you scale predictably with appropriate guardrails.

Reflection

What endures for me here is less the menu of options and more the meta-principle: clarity unlocks scale. Codifying delivery strategies gives executives and teams a common frame to choose wisely, avoid invisible tradeoffs, and keep energy aimed at outcomes instead of re-litigating process on every initiative. That’s still central to my work: create the conditions where the right decisions become obvious, repeatable, and fast.
